About the name: James Edward “Pa” and Miriam A “Ma” Ferguson were colorful Texas political figures in the first decades of the twentieth century. Pa Ferguson was a governor of Texas who was impeached and then convinced his wife to run in his place under the slogan “two governors for the price of one.” Ma was elected as the first female governor of Texas continuing her husband's populist and anti-prohibition policies. Dutch bikes are often given the names Opa and Oma to indicate men' and women's style frames. The Pa and Ma moniker is our Texas flair and one could imagine bikes much like our Ferguson being ridden around the streets of Austin during the tenures of these governors.
